Ingredients

  • 1cup Green moong dal (Saboot)
  • 4 tsp Mustard oil or any cooking oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 cups Rice
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1tsp Ginger powder
  • 5 cup Water
  • 4 Lounge (Cloves)
  • Pinch of Heeng
  • Salt




METHOD

  • Soak Saboot Moong in water at least 4 hrs. before making this recipe.
  • Keep Pressure cooker on a stove on medium heat
  • Add oil in a pressure cooker and let it heat, add cumin seeds and roast them well.
  • Add moong dal & Heeng to the cooker and stir it for 2-3 minutes and keep the flame on medium heat.
  • Now add 2 cups of rice to the cooker and stir well
  • Add now the turmeric powder, ginger powder and salt to it and mix again finally add the water.
  • Pressure cook it on high flame, cook up to 3 whistles. Turn off the heat.
  • Once the cooker gets cool, open the lid, mong khetchir is ready to serve.

NOTE:   

  1. You can use same recipe in Rice Cooker also.
  2. Serve with pickle
