Ingredients

  • 1 lb. rice flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup crushed Walnut
  • 1 spoon cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp celery seeds (Ajwian)
  • 1 cup any oil for frying




METHOD

Yaji used to be made in Kashmiri Pandits house hold in Kashmir, but they also remained in the grandma's kitchen and remained confined to that and gradually lost. But I am a Kashmiri, so how can I forget this like that.

  • Wash & clean walnuts in boiled water. Keep aside
  • Take Rice flour in a bowl
  • Add salt to the flour
  • Add cumin seed, celery seeds (Ajwain) & walnuts in rice flour.
  • Mix water little by little and knead it
  • Cut dough in to small balls.
  • Give the shape of a cup or a bowl, rotating a dough on the palm.
  • Now put oil in a frying pan and keep it warm.
  • When the oil is hot, fry two or three pieces at a time.
  • Fry it till golden brown.
  • Yaji is ready and serve it with Tea.
