Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Haak
  • 3 tbs. Mustard oil or Any Cooking oil
  • A pinch of Asafetida
  • 3 Cloves
  • 4 Whole Kashmiri red chilies & 3 Green chilies
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Vaer Masala
  • ½ lb. or 1 Stick Lotus root / Nadroo




METHOD

  • Slice diagonally lotus root & Stir Fry in the pan & keep aside.
  • Then start cooking Haak.
  • Heat oil in a Pan or Patella
  • Add cloves and the pinch of asafetida.
  • Stir with a spoon, and add immediately 3 cups of water, Salt and the whole red or green chilies.
  • Add ½ tsp. of red chili powder  
  • let the water with the spices boil, add green leaves (haak) and turn with the spoon till these become limp, and get immersed in the gravy.
  • Cook for 20 minutes or when leaves become tender, add Stir fry lotus root and cook for 8 to10 minutes. Haak-Naduir is Ready.
  • Add Vaer Masala, crushing it and serve with hot steam rice.

    Made Haak Nadeir yesterday as my husband loves lotus root. It was easy to follow. I did not have Vaer masala and did not use still came out delicious. My husband loved it.
