Slice diagonally lotus root & Stir Fry in the pan & keep aside.
Then start cooking Haak.
Heat oil in a Pan or Patella
Add cloves and the pinch of asafetida.
Stir with a spoon, and add immediately 3 cups of water, Salt and the whole red or green chilies.
Add ½ tsp. of red chili powder
let the water with the spices boil, add green leaves (haak) and turn with the spoon till these become limp, and get immersed in the gravy.
Cook for 20 minutes or when leaves become tender, add Stir fry lotus root and cook for 8 to10 minutes. Haak-Naduir is Ready.
Add Vaer Masala, crushing it and serve with hot steam rice.

Made Haak Nadeir yesterday as my husband loves lotus root. It was easy to follow. I did not have Vaer masala and did not use still came out delicious. My husband loved it.
