Ingredients

  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 1 tbs. oil
  • 1 tsp. fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp. dry yeast
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 tbs. Yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • More milk for kneading if required




METHOD

  • Add yeast and sugar in ½ cup of warm water.
  • Keep aside for 5 minutes or till frothy.
  • In a large Bowl Mix salt, flour, fennel seeds & baking powder.
  • Make well in the center & add yogurt to it.
  • Add oil, yeast solution in well and mix gradually.
  • Use milk as required, to make a soft stiff dough.
  • Brush dough will oil. Cover with wet towel or cloth.
  • Keep aside for 4 hours. Longer if weather is cold.
  • Grease palms well and punch dough till soft and elastic.
  • Cover again and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  • Cut dough in to small tennis balls (equal portions)
  • Roll or pat to a thick round ball about 6 cm.in diam.
  • Brush with a little milk & Yogurt paste
  • Heat oven to 375*
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes on 300*F until light brown on top
  • Cool on a wire rack

Serve hot with Sheet chai or Kehwa tea
